Testing

The testing on the RC car will be done in the spring time there will be four separate tests there will be a drop test, cornering test, max speed test, and collision test.

The drop test will be dropping the RC car from 1.5 feet to the floor in Hogue. this test will be done 3 times and the final number will be the average of the three trials. The RC car should have less than 2 inches of deflection.

 

The max speed test will be done in Hogue the car will have 50 meters to drive the cars max speed this test will be done 3 times and the average will be taken of the three trials and that will be the RC cars max speed.

After doing the first trial of the collision test there was some redesigning that needed to be done 3 of the 4 a-arms had broke so the first option was to put rubber on the bumper and that didn't work so the next option was to redesign the a-arms and print them out of carbon fiber and this worked the car hit the way and was able to drive off after.   

 

The collision test will be done in Hogue the student will drive the RC car into something solid that will not move and see how much deflection the front bumper has this test will be done 3 times and the average deflection will be the final answer.

The car was ran into the wall from 25 feet away from the wall. When the car hit the wall the back 2 A-arms broke were they connect to the chassis plate. The student will be putting rubber on the front bumper to give the bumper some cushion

This was after the car had been dropped from 1.5 feet off the ground and the average deflection was 0.5 in. and the requirement was that it wouldn't deflect more than 2 in.

This was after the car had ran into the way after the third trial of the collision test as you can see the car had survived the collision test

this was right before the car had impacted the wall at full speed this is when the car had survived the collision and the impact against the wall.

This was the beginning of the drop test the car was 1.5 feet above the ground when it was dropped and the deflection was measure after the car had came back up off the ground to a standing position
